Our Charity of 2013

Help for Heroes, Go Ape's 2013 Charity

Our charity 2013

With 2013 nearly wrapped up, our incredible charity partnership with Help for Heroes is drawing to a close and what an amazing way to end the year –  with Go Ape donating over £40k to H4H.  For two years, the Go Ape gorillas have been taking on epic challenges, hosting events and pushing fitness levels to the limit all in the name of charity! All the hard work has seriously paid off with a grand total of  £87k raised for the charity over this time.

Highlights include:

–      Hargrave’s Ride to Recovery

–       The Founders take on the ‘Big Battlefield Bike Ride’ across France

–       The MD joins the team at Delamere for the ultimate Zip Climb – from the bottom of the ocean to the top of Mount Everest zip ascent

–       Rob Bell from Go Ape Matfen runs the Great North Run in a gorilla suit

–       Tedworth House use Go Ape Moors Valley as part of their rehabilitation programme

–       £2000 worth of gift vouchers donated to the Band of Brothers and Sisters so they could spend time with loved ones up in the trees.

Not only do we want to thank those who took part in all of our charity adventures, but to everyone who supported and helped us achieve such an incredible sum of money. The difference that this can make to our wounded soldiers is life-changing and no one knows better than this than Bryn Parry, CEO and Co-Founder, Help for Heroes:

“Help for Heroes is hugely grateful to Go Ape for the amazing support they have given us over the last two years.  What really made this partnership stand out is the range of support they gave. Their fundraising was a true team effort from the collection tins at all their sites to the mad and wonderful staff fundraising events like a 19,772 metre climb on a zip wire! I know the members of our Band of Brothers and Band of Sisters thoroughly enjoyed their Go Ape experiences and appreciated the gift of spending some fun time with their loved ones.  We can’t thank the Go Ape team enough for what we know has been a really personal commitment from everyone.”

Go Ape’s funding is specifically for Battle Back which provides Adaptive Sports and Adventurous Training for the wounded.
