Share your adventure stories and win this summer!

KIds Writing Competition
Go Ape’s motto has always been the same ever since that sunny day back in 2001 when Tris and Becs opened the leafy forest doors to our very first course.

Do you know what that motto is?

Creating adventures, encouraging others to live life more adventurously

Ten points if you got it!

It’s our motto and mission to encourage the world (yes, the world) to live life more adventurously through our forest-themed activities. Whether you’re rolling around on a bunch of Segways or swinging from tree to tree, we want to open your minds and eyes to the wonderfully exciting world of outdoor adventure.

Now, it’s your turn to inspire:

Mini Tarzans, we’ve a favour to ask. We think we’re doing a pretty good job of inspiring adventure (if we say so ourselves), but we want you to help us out and inspire others, too!

This is a call for all kids aged 4-12! Monkeys, we want you to pen a story about an awesome adventure you’ve had. The story needs to be 100-500 words and there are no rules whatsoever, as long as it’s really adventurous and has the potential to inspire the Go Ape Tribe and anyone else who reads it!

It could be real-life story or completely made up, it’s your choice. It just needs to be adventure-filled. So get those creative juices flowing and let your imagination run wild!

What’s in it for you? Well, quite a lot actually! If you win, you can choose from a school trip for your whole class or a treetop party for you and your pri-mates! Oh, we’re also going to be giving away stacks of adventure books!

We’ll be awarding these awesome prizes to nine lucky winners, in categories including best fiction author, best non-fiction author, best character, and best use of language. Chief Gorillas Tris and Becs will also be picking their favourite entry.

Already have an idea of what you’re going to write? Don’t wait around as time’s ticking! You’ve got until midnight, 22nd June to submit your entry, either through a form on our website here or by scanning a paper copy to [email protected], with the subject line ‘Writing competition’.

Good luck to all you little monkeys taking part and thanks for helping the Go Ape Tribe to inspire adventure among the masses!

School Trips at Alexandra Palace

GROUP OF SCHOOL KIDS WITH GORILLA ALEXANDRA PALACE

On 17th March – we opened our 31st location and unveiled our 19th Tree Top Junior adventure at Alexandra Palace. We invited 2 local Primary Schools up into the trees to experience the adventure for themselves.

One of our mini-Tarzans decided to write a review on her tree-time, and we think it’s tree-mendous. Olivia (aged 10) gives her honest opinion on her recent trip to Go Ape, Alexandra Palace.

“At Alexandr

a Palace, there is a new attraction called ‘Go Ape’. Mr Broadbent took some Y6 children to have a go and we discovered that climbing in the treetops is sooooo much fun!

You might think its scary, but it’s the best thing you could ever imagine. It won’t matter if you fall as you’re all set up with harnesses, so you are completely safe. You can scramble to the top of trees, fly down zip-wires, swing on ropes and much more! We laughed so much it didn’t occur to any of us that we were high up in the air and in the trees.

The staff there were really helpful but I have to admit I did have butterflies in my stomach before we started. I slowly climbed up the stairs to a platform in the trees, and soon gained confidence and thought walking across the rope bridge was thrilling! You get to see the woods as if you were a bird flying high in the sky, and when you are climbing you feel like a monkey!

Overall my favourite part was the zip-wire which made me feel like I was flying.”

We think school trips to Go Ape are a great way to aid in children’s personal development. Encourage teamwork, problem-solving and self confidence, all whilst having fun in the trees.

A shout out to adventurous Dads

Go Ape Gift Vouchers this Christmas
It’ll soon be that time of the year again. The day where silverbacks all over the UK get to put their feet up, unwrap a thoughtful pressie, and legitimately put off mowing the lawn until another day. Yep, Father’s Day is THIS Sunday, 18th June.

Here at Banana HQ, we’ve compiled a list of five things we can thank our dads, step-dads, grandads and uncles for. We bet at least one of these rings a bell…

1. Thanks for… being our personal taxi drivers

Shelley’s house, then Priya’s house, then Jen’s Nanna’s. Then to the cinema on the High Street, please. Oh, there’s a new one-way system, by the way. Yeah, probably should have mentioned that earlier. Can you reverse?

Gift inspo: why not get him a bottle of something smooth and aged, with a posh label. Or perhaps just his trusted favourite. Someone else can be designated driver for a change.

2. Thanks for… letting us climb the tall trees

Looking back, we’re sure there were many hours of anxious curtain-twitching and phone-checking while we were out exploring our local jungles. Thanks for resisting wrapping us in cotton wool. We learnt something from every single bump and scrape, and we’ve got the precious lifelong memories to prove it.

Gift inspo: why not relive childhood summers by treating your silverback to a Tree Top Adventure? Swing-side-by-side through the forest canopy and see who can Tarzan call the loudest.

3. Thanks for… being the Easter Bunny, Father Christmas, and the Tooth Fairy

OK, so although it was technically a decade-long deception, thanks for hiding those eggs under the geraniums, nibbling Rudolph’s carrot, and sneaking those pound coins under the pillow. We know it was you, and we love you for it.

Gift inspo: let Dad be himself this Father’s Day by buying him a smart shirt from his favourite store. He deserves it after all those Christmases in the Santa costume…

4. Thanks for… letting us listen to our terrible teenage music

Slaves to the charts, we’re fairly sure we made you endure more than anyone’s fair share of white-suited boy bands, neon-haired pop princesses, and novelty one-hit wonders (Crazy Frog, anyone?).

Sound familiar? Gift inspo: make Dad a playlist of stuff he actually enjoys listening to. Maybe he was right, after all. We’d much rather listen to Blur than Blazin’ Squad these days.

5. Thanks for… the epic BBQs

Although it was pretty clear the kitchen wasn’t your natural habitat, you were always first out with the lighter fluid on a clear day. Bravely risking burnt eyebrows, backseat chefs, and an incinerated shed, you made sure we all enjoyed the sunshine with full bellies. Thanks for your commitment to the marinades – they were awesome.

Gift inspo: why not coax your culinary hero indoors with a good cookbook? It might just persuade him that not all food has to be prepared over hot coals.

Whatever you have to thank Dad for, why not treat him to some family tree-time? We’re sure he’ll love the Tarzan swings and zip lines, but we’re willing to bet his favourite bit will be spending quality time with you.

Dads – looking for a (not so) subtle way to hint at an adventurous gift? Maybe a cheeky retweet might do the trick…

Flexible pricing – Go Ape for less

Reach New Heights At Go Ape

At the moment, the prices of our adventures are fixed, but soon, you’ll be able to book adventure at a range of different prices.

Currently we charge a fixed price for all of our adventures, but soon the prices will be flexible. The price you pay will depend on a number of factors generally speaking, though, the earlier you book, the better value your Go Ape adventure will be!

The system is currently being rolled out at Go Ape Delamere Forest, Wendover Woods, Moors Valley and Wyre.

Swing by Delamere Forest and you could enjoy a Tree Top Adventure, Tree Top Junior or Forest Segway at a discounted rate by booking early. While you’ll only find a Tree Top Adventure at Wendover Woods, it’s the only course in the UK to exclusively offer an ‘extreme’ route you’ll have to navigate across a Scrambling Net and Climbing Wall before coming face-to-face with some of our trickiest obstacles. Go on…challenge yourself!

Why have we introduced flexible pricing? Well, we think it’s a good incentive to inspire people to live life adventurously! Get your Go Ape date in the diary as early as poss and not only will you save cash, but you’ll give yourself something to look forward to! We call that a win-win.

We’ll tell you this now there’s no point in waiting to book your adventure, because prices will never go down. Whether you swing through the trees, zip through the air or roll around the forest floor with your tribe, your Go Ape adventure will always be cheaper the earlier you book it up.

Perhaps you want to get ahead and organise some fun days out for the kids during the summer hols. Or maybe it’s your partner or mate’s birthday in a few months’ time and you want to plan something extra-special. Maybe just maybe it’s your big day soon and quite frankly, you’re fed up with a bog-standard night out in town!

What to do with the money you save? You could always put it towards your next Go Ape adventure, or treat yourself to some branded gear available from our on-site cabin! Or maybe, you and your tribe could enjoy a hearty, post-adventure lunch at a nearby pub or cafe (trust us, swinging through the trees works up an appetite!).

The early bird catches the worm, and the early Tarzan swings for less! Book your Go Ape adventure today and save, save, save!
