Top 10 Adventures Children Are Missing Out On
The results are in…and they’re not good.
We recently conducted a survey of 2,000 British Parents to find out how they’ll be spending time with their children this summer. Shockingly, we found that the average child will spend over 86 hours in front of a screen – leaving less time for exploring the great outdoors.
What’s more we discovered that children will be missing out on traditional adventures in favour of watching TV and playing computer games.
Here’s the top 10 adventures children will be missing out on:
1. Traditional outdoor activities, like making a daisy chain and bird watching (49%)
2. Building a den (42%)
3. Flying kites (41%)
4. Climbing trees (37%)
5. Fruit picking (33%)
6. Skimming stones on a lake (29%)
7. Planting their own seeds (26%)
8. Playing in open space and woodland (25%)
9. Searching for insects (25%)
10. Pond dipping or paddling (23%)
Whilst the results make for sad reading, there’s light at the end of the tunnel with 77% of parents stating they would prefer their children to spend more time outside than they currently do.
