Teachers go free!

Go Ape School Trips

“A show of hands, kids who fancies skipping school for the day to go and monkey around in the treetops?” Ask your class this question and we bet that there won’t be a single child who keeps both of their hands down! Your class are bound to appreciate a break from times tables and spelling for the day think of it as a treat for all of their hard work.

They’ll get to clamber up into the treetops together to enjoy a fun-filled hour of canopy exploring, tackling obstacles as they go and completing the course by whooshing through the air via zip wire, landing in a squishy pile of wood chip.

A Tree Top Junior is mega fun; but it’s educational, too. Spending time in the treetops will teach your mini tribe valuable lessons and skills about the great outdoors we promise, it’s just as educational as a trip to the museum! And here’s the thing: kids learn best when they’re having fun.

A Tree Top Junior will give your kids an experience they’ll never forget; it’ll boost their confidence in the great outdoors which in turn, could make them more confident and happy in class. We call that a win-win. With the help of practicing teachers, we’ve also developed a range of stimulating resources which support the National Curriculum. They cover maths, English and science, and include ideas for how to make the most of your trip, as well as tasks for kids to complete whilst hanging out in the forest (and you can join in, too!).

Tree Top Junior School Trips

The nitty gritty A Tree Top Junior costs just £12 per pupil and guess what? Teachers and supervisors get to swing for free! If your kids are aged under 6 years old, you’ll need to supervise them from the treetops, with 1 adult to every 2 juniors. For kids aged 6-15, you can choose whether to supervise from the trees or ground, and there must be 1 adult per 8 juniors. If more supervisors join, they’ll need to pay.

Fancy swinging by to check out our offering? Not a problem! Teachers are more than welcome to pay a visit to Go Ape during the week, which will give them a good opportunity to chat to a member of our tribe about planning their adventure.

As well as a Tree Top Junior, we can suggest activities for you and your tribe to take part in during the day, and we can also put on a forest feast for you all to enjoy at lunch.

Each pupil will receive a memento of their Go Ape adventure in the form of a certificate, giving them something they can treasure forever!

Striking the balance: The workings of a Segway

Group Segway

At first glance, Segways might not seem all that extraordinary, with some people describing them as mere ‘glorified scooters.’ But in actual fact, Segways are ingenious pieces of kit and a lot of science goes into developing them.

Packed away in the base, hidden from view, are clever computers, sophisticated sensors and smart motors which keep the Segway upright when it’s switched on. As for the controls and navigation, well, that’s down to you…the rider!

Successfully operating a Segway involves mastering the art of balance tightrope walkers do it, ballerinas do it; and if you’ve ever embarked on a Tree Top Adventure at Go Ape, you’ve had to do it! As the saying goes, it’s simple once you know how!

Lean forward (not too much, now) and the clever gyroscopic sensors within the Segway pick up changes in pitch angle and, as a result, move the wheels forward to maintain balance. The same goes if you need to reverse; i.e., if you overshot a forest trail at Go Ape and find yourself a little too close to a tree (*gulp*)!

Of course, as well as going backwards and forwards, you’ll want to navigate left and right which is done by moving the handlebar in the desired direction. When travelling forward, leaning forward will pick up the pace and if you start going a bit too fast for your liking, just lean back! Segway with Go Ape!

Now you know all about the tech behind Segways, do you fancy having a go on one? If the answer’s ‘yes,’ then why not pay a visit to Go Ape for a totally unique, forest-themed Segway adventure?

Go Ape Segway Experience

When it comes to cruising around on a self-balancing Segway, there really is no better setting than in the heart of a beautiful forest. Immersed in a sea of green, you’ll weave your way in and out of the trees with your tribe, listening to the birds chirping, breathing in that fresh forest air while watching numerous species of wildlife go about their merry way.

A Forest Segway experience is a fun-for-all activity. If you aren’t a fan of heights, or have swung with us so many times you’ve lost count, it provides a good alternative to a Tree Top Adventure (though, we also recommend facing up to your fears by heading into the canopy).

Or, you might choose to treat yourself and your tribe to the ultimate Go Ape day out by combining both adventures go on, you deserve it!Worried you won’t be able to balance? Worry no more! Before we let you roam free in the forest, a skilled member of the Go Ape tribe will teach you the tricks and make sure you’ve nailed the controls.

A Segway experience costs just £35 for 60 minutes, and is the perfect chance to put your feet up and explore the wonders of the forest in a fun and totally unique way!
